On 03-09-2015, at midnight, due to high velocity wind and thunderstorm, one of the wires from antenna mast cage, near the center of the mast at a distance of approximately 250 feet above the ground, had been broken and slung over the nearby wires causing shorting. As a result, transmitter’s matching with antenna was seriously disturbed and output power of single unit was reduced from 250 KW to 80 KW only along with reflected power of 9 KW and VSWR raised up to 1.7.2. The transmitter was then put off in order to avoid severe damage to it. The wires were temporarily repaired in the next morning to broadcast regular service.
After that, Riggers team deputed by PBC, Headquarters, started repair work of Mast Cage Wires on the morning of 14-09-2015. The wearisome and time consuming work of broken wire of mast cage was carried into effect by the experienced riggers in a skillful manner after taking all the precautionary measures. The broken wire was got repaired along with two more wires by fastening them at their proper positions. The said job was completed just before the sunset and Transmitter was put on for regular service on full power i.e. 500 kW with normal parameters.
