On 19-02-2016, at 1710 Hrs, a huge flash occurred at power supply system due to severe lightning and thunderstorm and eventually transmitter was turned off. During the thorough checkup, it was found that the power supply room was fully covered with burning smell and smoke as 05 out of 12 numbers Potential Transformers installed in the VCBs of both feeder lines and ATS were burnt out excessively. The Grid Station was called immediately to put off the supply of both feeders lines. Transmitter was checked thoroughly and found everything normal in it.

After the close down of transmission, the power supply system checked and removed the burnt Potential Transformers and bypass the supply system as we have no spare potential transformers as well as other spares of said VCBs at the unit. The entire work was completed at 0300 Hrs (late night) and checked the transmitter on WAPDA supply and Alhamdulillah everything was right and normal.
